Leadership
Teen Center

Our goal is to empower youth to make healthy choices in order to thrive.

“I come to TEENS, Inc. because it is a great environment for me to grow mentally and emotionally, as well as help others do the same.”
-- Silas, age 17

“TEENS, Inc has been a positive and meaningful addition to our family.  My daughter has found a place to call her own and has received great mentoring from staff members. She has had the pleasure of attending a leadership camp and TEENS, Inc has offered her a way in which to serve her community.”
-- Jennifer, parent

ROUNDTABLE
Each Tuesday from 4:30 – 5:30 Roundtable meets as the youth governing body of TEENS, Inc.  At Roundtable, participants engage in policy decision making, event planning, and leadership development / risk reduction education workshops.  Examples of workshops include non-violent communication, conflict resolution, diversity/tolerance, sexuality, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and suicide prevention.  Roundtable averages nearly 20 workshops per year.

SUMMER LEADERSHIP RETREAT
Each summer TEENS, Inc. takes up to 16 deserving youth on a leadership retreat that challenges them to overcome fears, bond with peers and communicate more effectively.  Youth earn the privilege of attending the retreat by demonstrating initiative through participation in Roundtable and volunteering at TEENS, Inc. and throughout the community.

Each month one teen is awarded $25 through a vote of his/her peers.  The Peer Leader of the Month demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities through volunteering, organizing special events, helping others or making healthy choices to better themselves.

STAR CHART
On a daily basis youth are given stars for good deeds whether it be volunteering, taking advantage of tutoring, attending Roundtable or helping out a friend in need.  Youth who accumulate the most stars each month are acknowledged at Roundtable and are eligible for Peer Leader of the Month and eventually the Summer Leadership Retreat.  In 2008, teens volunteered nearly 800 hours through TEENS, Inc. sponsored events.
