  • Chinook West is a program of TEENS, Inc. contracted by Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) to provide students an academic and social/emotional alternative to traditional practices.
     
  • Chinook West began in 2002 and has served over 80 students.
     
  • Classes average less than 7 students.
     
  • Chinook West students meet BVSD’s graduation requirements.
     
  • Chinook West students graduate with a BVSD diploma.

  • Chinook West generally follows BVSD’s school calendar.
     
  • Students must earn at least a 70% to earn credit.
     
  • Each student works with an advisor to make progress towards educational and life goals.
     
  • Parent / student / teacher conferences are scheduled regularly to keep all informed of student progress.
     
  • Chinook West works on a 7 to 8 week block schedule.

  • One week intensives happen throughout the year and focus on current relevant topics to teens. Examples include the Conference on World Affairs, politics, diversity and community service.
     
  • Over 90% of students who attend Chinook West complete their education.
     
  • Nearly 70% of students who have graduated over the last two years are currently in college. Many have received full or partial scholarships.
     
  • After one year of school at Chinook West, students report that they are less likely to drop out of high school and more likely to continue their education after graduation.
